Silver Lake Boardwalk Loop

Distance: 0.8 miles round-trip
Hiking time: 30 minutes-1 hour depending on how long you spend
Elevation change: 30 feet

Driving Directions: At the intersection at 6200 South/Wasatch Boulevard enter Big Cottonwood Canyon. Continue up Big Cottonwood Canyon Road for 14.5 miles to Brighton Ski Resort. Take a Right at the sign for Silver Lake and park there. Bathrooms and picnic tables available at the trailhead.

Silver Lake is one of the easiest 'hikes' out there. It's basically a walk around Silver Lake. There are many interpretive signs on the trail, wide paths, and a large boardwalk. I've gone before with a jogging stroller that worked well on the trail. This is a great trail for Spring, Summer, or Fall.

Options: For hikers looking for a more challenging hike, separate trails extend to Lake Solitude (2.5 miles) and Twin Lakes Reservoir (1 mile) from Silver Lake's north-west shore.

We ate some lunch after we walked around the loop.

Holding hands with a friend helps you not trip. So sweet.

Along the way we found some fuzzy caterpillars.

I love aspen trees. They are one of my very favorites.

These adventurous boys wanted to climb rocks and hills, and of course Eliza wanted to follow suit.

Snow! There was some snow from a recent storm. Crazy how there's still snow in June up in the mountains!

Love my hiking buddies.

This is a favorite hike of ours. Easy, fun, and lots to explore.

There is a fun information center at the start of the hike by the parking lot. It's free and has a lot of information on wildlife and nature in the area. Kids can look at different animal skulls, touch bear/moose/beaver fur, and even hold a rattlesnake rattle.

There are picnic tables there too so this is a hike we love to bring a picnic lunch to and eat afterwards.
